Mad about the hat

Having a bad hair day? Wrap a scraf around your wayward hair, or hide out movie-star style under a slouch hat.

You see it on the catwalk. You see it on the stars. It's the add-on that lends instant elegance, whether you are in the city or on the dance floor.
Choose a scraf and knot to match your style. A silk scraf tied like a bandana looks fabolous with a floor-lenght gown in a matching colour. If you are aiming for a casual bohemian look. copy Salvatore Ferragamo - choose single-colour cotton and let the ends of the scarf hang free.

Whenever hats are on trend, we turn our gaze to England. England is, after all, the home of hat icon Isabella Blow, hat makers Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones. In a country where hats are de riguer for royalty, headwear never really goes out of style. Penny Martin notes that this spring's royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton kicked off yet another hat renaissance in London: "Our papers have been full of pictures of Kate Middleton in various fascinators (a delicate and frivolous head decoration)," she says.

And it's not only in hat-mad England that the summer was offering up a wild range of headwear for every mood and weather. If you are shooting for a feminine 70s retro look, well ... luck you; the choices are endless.
If you love the new masculine looks, top off your outfit with a classic men's hat. Men's headwear is a story in itself, full of everything from fedoras and Stetsons to trucker hats and soft workwear caps.

The possibilities are infinite - and nowhere is it written that you can only have one hat in your wardrobe.
